Multi-trap deployment at the Parore Ecological Restoration Project.
Two Critter Solutions Multi-trap™ units were deployed by Project Parore team members Phillipa Wright and Stephen Kenna within a wetland on their property in Katikati, Bay of Plenty, during July and August 2026.
Rats were known to be present in the area but were not entering the conventional DOC kill traps. The Critter Solutions Multi-traps were set up in monitoring mode for a few weeks to establish which animals were interacting with them. Monitoring identified Norway rats and mice. After being switched to kill mode, the traps almost immediately killed three Norway rats and two mice.
During the five-week trial, no animals were caught in any of the nearby DOC kill traps, highlighting how effective the Multi-traps are at removing rodents that were avoiding multiple conventional traps in the immediate vicinity.
